Prince Harry just broke our hearts in the most beautiful way with this Instagram picture

Prince Harry is on an official royal visit to Africa this week, and he’s been giving us serious heart eyes the entire time he’s been there. Just a few days ago, he opened an orphanage for kids who’ve lost parents to the AIDS virus and had some really moving things to say about losing his own mom, Princess Diana. Then he played some rugby and football as part of an initiative to keep kids out of gangs. He spent the next day at the beach with the Surfers Not Street Children project. He’s also been hanging out with Desmond Tutu. Quick question, Prince Harry. Are you sleeping on this royal tour? Because you’ve been a little busy.

Now, over the past two days, he’s been at the Kruger National Park, part of the South African National Parks system, where he’s drawing global attention to South Africa’s poaching problem. Yesterday, he visited a recent poaching crime scene where two rhinos were illegally killed. Clearly, the prince has been very moved by what he’s seen. Afterward, he sent out this tweet expressing his concern over what’s been going on at the park.

In keeping with the spirit of conservation, today Prince Harry is sharing photos and memories from his trip to Africa last summer. And guys, his new Instagram post has left us shattered.

I know how lucky I am to have these experiences, but hearing stories from people on the ground about how bad the situation really is, upset and frustrated me. How can it be that 30,000 elephants were slaughtered last year alone? None of them had names, so do we not care? And for what? Their tusks? The photo alone hits us right in the feels, but Prince Harry’s caption is an absolute heartbreaker. Seriously, you might want to grab a tissue (or ten) for this. We’ll wait…

Alongside the picture, Kensington Palace says it’s from Harry’s summer visit to southern Africa and that he’d like to share the story behind it, which is this:

A pointless waste of beauty indeed. We commend Prince Harry for shining a light on the horrific crime of poaching and hope that his efforts help the animals at risk. We’re also glad there was an elephant on hand when he really needed a hug. (Even though that photo is making us cry ALL the tears.)

Harry's double tumble: Prince falls off his polo pony TWICE during charity match - but picks himself up and even gives crowd a bow

Prince Harry fell from his polo pony this afternoon as he played in a charity match in South Africa.

The fifth in line to the throne toppled from his mount during a clash in the Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup, a major fundraiser in Cape Town for the charity he set up to help children suffering with HIV and AIDS in Lesotho, Southern Africa. 

Fortunately the prince, who minutes earlier had scored a goal, appeared unhurt and he quickly got to his feet and walked off the field. Within minutes the royal daredevil was back in play.

Although a favourite sport of the royal family, polo hasn't always proved to be the safest. Harry's father, Prince Charles, once broke his arm during a match.

At the end of the match, just moments before the final whistle went, Harry fell off his pony for a second time and gave a self-depreciating bow.

His repeat tumble prompted opposition professional Nacho Figueras, a friend of the prince, to mockingly fall off his own mount, leaving Harry in fits of laughter.

Prince Harry's Sentebale team eventually lost 7-8 to Royal Salute, although the royal did make it onto the scoreboard.

At a prize giving ceremony Harry joked and hugged with the other players, particularly Nacho, showing there were no hard feelings.

After showering and changing the prince will later join donors and supporters at the Val de Vie for a fundraising dinner, where he will also give a short speech.

The event is estimated to raise just under $1 million.

Prince Harry looked relaxed earlier in the day as he arrived into Cape Town ahead of the major charity polo match.

The prince sported Ray Ban sunglasses and white jeans before he travelled to the picturesque Val de Vie estate in the heart of South African wine country. 

Harry visited Lesotho on Thursday to open a new residential centre for affected children, the Mamohato Children's Centre.

Harry will today play alongside one of England's leading professional players, Malcom Borwick, against a team featuring one of the sport's most famous faces, Nacho Figueras.

Down on his luck: Despite his dramatic fall, the prince showed no signs of injury and quickly got back to playing the game

The event has been a regular fixture for the organisation Harry founded in 2006 to help vulnerable children in the impoverished country of Lesotho.
Cathy Ferrier, Sentebale's chief executive, said: 'Sentebale's annual polo fundraising event has gone from strength to strength over six consecutive years.
'We hope to raise even more money this year enabling us to care for and support many more children in Lesotho and across other southern African countries in the near future.'
Among the guests invited were actress Laura Main, a star of the popular BBC series Call The Midwife, South African former Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Ryk Neethling, and British spoken word artist George the Poet, who performed at the opening ceremony of the Mamohato centre.

Prince Harry Talks “Gaping Hole” Left in His Life After Princess Diana’s Death

Prince Harry got very personal on Thursday, Nov. 26, when he discussed the devastating death of his mother, Princess Diana, and how it left him with a “gaping hole.”

“I knew there would always be a gaping hole that could never be filled,” the royal, 31, remarked as he opened the Mamohato Children’s Centre in Lesotho, Africa.

Harry -- who was age 12 when Princess Diana died in a Paris car crash in 1997 at age 36 -- discussed how losing his mother at an early age enabled him to sympathize with the orphaned children.

“The children at the center were far younger than me, and of course, their situation was a great deal more challenging than my own,” Prince William’s younger brother said. “Nonetheless, we shared a similar feeling of loss, having a loved one -- in my case a parent -- snatched away so suddenly.”

The orphanage -- built by Harry’s charity, Sentebale -- has a dining hall that’s named after Princess Di, and will support children who have lost parents to AIDS. The late princess did much to reduce the early stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS when she was alive.

Back in October, Harry shared that his late mother inspired his love for charity work.

“It’s equally important, if not more so, to do the stuff behind the scenes,” he said of his royal duties. “It’s something that our mother did a lot. And that’s the time you really get to learn. You get the experiences and you actually get the honest truth out of people.”
